Foster Leaders Code of Leadership

code of leadershipupdated

This Code of Leadership will guide everything that is done under the Connect 20 Partnership name.

The Foster Leaders Code of Leadership represents the collection of standards that guide current and former foster youth who are involved with the Foster Leaders network and the Connect 20 Campaign.  Instead of serving as a bill or declaration telling others how to treat the foster youth community, the Foster Leaders Code of Leadership empowers the foster youth community to show the world how they would like for the public to perceive the foster youth community.

Understanding that the foster youth community will have various levels of understanding of the standards established in the Foster Leaders Code of Leadership, this code is only meant to serve as a guide to the Foster Leaders network.  We do not kick individuals out of Foster Leaders if they do not meet these standards on a regular basis. We do not force these standards on anyone.  We simply want to establish a set of standards that guides us in forming a united front that the public has no choice but to listen to and to value.  Other professional groups and causes have reached the point of establishing a powerful voice, because they were able to come together and show the world that their voices are valuable.  This is usually done by establishing a set of standards or ethics.  We believe that there is an urgent need to lead this charge for the foster youth cause.  Our intention is for the Foster Leaders Code of Leadership to meet that need.

If you are a former foster youth who would like to affirm your commitment to nurturing and exhibiting these standards in your life, please comment on this post with your state.

If you were not in foster care, but you are dedicated to enhancing the lives of foster youth in your community, we would like to encourage you to share this page and our code of leadership with the current and former foster youth in your life.
